Mount Anak Krakatau Erupted Four Times, Spraying Ash 657 Meters

Berdikari.co, South Lampung - Mount Anak Krakatau erupted again four times, Thursday 26 January 2023. Mount Anak Krakatau spewed volcanic ash as high as 657 meters above sea level.

Reporting from the magma.esdm.go.id page, at around 07.32 WIB there was an eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau which spewed volcanic ash as high as 500 meters above the peak or 657 meters above sea level.

"The column of ash is gray, with thick intensity to the southeast," said Mount Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post Officer Jumono.

Juwono said that previously the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau also occurred at 06.33 WIB by throwing volcanic ash as high as 300 meters from the top of the peak or 457 meters above sea level.

At around 05.12 WIB there was an eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau accompanied by throwing volcanic ash as high as 300 meters from the top of the peak or 457 meters above sea level.

"The intensity of this eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 40 millimeters and a duration of 33 seconds," said Juwono.

Previously, the Head of the South Lamsel Fire and Rescue Service, M. Sefri Masdian, said community activities around Mount Anak Krakatau were still going on normally as usual after the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

Head of the South Lamsel Communication and Informatics Service, Anasrullah appealed to the public to increase their vigilance after the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

Especially the people who are in the Sunda Strait waters and coastal areas of South Lampung Regency, especially in the Districts of Katibung, Sidomulyo, Kalianda, Rajabasa and Bakauheni.

"We have conveyed to the people who live around the south coast to increase their alertness after the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau," he said.

"We ask that the public be more careful, don't listen to hoax issues that are not true from irresponsible parties. Don't worry and panic," he concluded. (*)
