Lampung Experiences 5.95 Percent Inflation, Transportation Group the Highest Contributor

Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - The Central Bureau of Statistics for Lampung Indonesia Province noted that in January 2023 there was year on year (yoy) inflation for the combined two cities in Lampung, namely Bandar Lampung and Metro of 5.95 percent.

Riduan, Coordinator of the Distribution Statistics Function for the Central Bureau of Statistics for Lampung Province, explained that out of eleven expenditure groups, the highest inflation occurred in the transportation group at 13.33 percent.

"The transportation group in January 2023 experienced yoy inflation of 13.33 percent or an increase in the index from 107.18 in January 2022 to 121.47 in January 2023," said Riduan, when giving a statement, Wednesday 1 February 2023.

Of the four subgroups in this group, all recorded experiencing inflation. Among them are the passenger transportation services sub-group 24.91 percent, the personal transportation equipment operation sub-group 17.10 percent, the goods delivery services sub-group 5.28 percent and the vehicle purchasing sub-group 1.72 percent.

"So that as a whole the transportation group in January 2023 contributed to the formation of yoy inflation of 1.75 percent. Meanwhile, the information, communication and financial control group experienced deflation on a yoy basis of 136 percent," he explained.

On this occasion he also explained that inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure group. Among them are the food, beverage and tobacco group 7.12 percent.

Then the clothing and footwear group 4.98 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and household fuel group 1.70 percent, the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group 2.76 percent, the health group 4.79 percent.

The transportation group 13.33 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group 5.43 percent, the education group 9.23 percent, the food and beverage or restaurant supply group 3.48 percent and the personal care and other services group 6.99 percent.

"The main commodities contributing to inflation yoy in January 2023 include gasoline, filter clove cigarettes, rice, air transportation, red chilies, high schools and shallots," he said.

Regional Secretary of Lampung Province, Fahrizal Darminto explained, gasoline is indeed one of the main commodities contributing to inflation and this does not only happen in Lampung.

In addition to gasoline, various commodities that are being maintained to keep inflation under control are the stability of food supply and prices, especially for daily basic needs.

"One of the things we are doing is mitigating the stabilization of food supply and prices. Such as by carrying out the cheap food movement and strengthening the government's food reserves," he said.

According to him, with this step, the inflation rate in Lampung Province can be controlled and there will be no such high price fluctuations. (*)
